In this article we will cover the basics of Moon Mining in Derelik Lowsec. This will discuss, but not be limited to:
- Requirements for accessing the Moon Mining Team.
- How to find out when Moons are coming out.
- Be in #industrial-ops channel on RC Discord. - Preparations to take and resources to have.
- Logged in with ADDITIONAL Recon + Cyno/Rolling Battleship Alt. - Initial ship training.
- Taxation.
- All tax to "Hostile."
- R64 @ 30%
- Other @ 20%
Be aware that the ability to access the moon mining timetable and fleets is dependant on your participation in Alliance and Coalition level PvP activities. This is not a Nullsec renter group, this is a high end PvP group.
Requirements for Accessing the Moon Mining Team
- Be a member of the group for at least 30 days.
- Be signed up and active relevant SeAT Instances.
- Subject to an additional ESI check of main and all mining accounts.
- In addition to mining accounts - have an additional account logged on with a Recon with Cyno + Rolling Battleship (covered later).
- Request a vouch into the mining team to one of Alliance Leadership.
Upon successful initiation into the mining team, you will be added to the relevant channels in RC Discord. Please ensure you are open and helpful to your new friends.
How to find out when Moon Mining is happening.

In the "#industry-logistics" channel type "-moon" and hit enter to bring up the Moon Timetable. This will help you structure your activity.
Wait patiently until an Industrial Director pings for a Moon Mining Fleet. Once this happens you can immediately join "Minors Channel" in RC Teamspeak, and get your alts logged on to assist with rolling wormholes and scouting.
Preparations.
As previously stated, in addition to your mining team you will need an alt with:
- A Rolling Battleship
- A Recon Cyno
Rolling Battleships are high mass battleships used for reducing the stability of Wormholes that have spawned in the immediate area.
We are required to roll holes within AT LEAST A 2 JUMP RADIUS of the target moon.
An easy rolling battleship to get into is a Praxis, as this requires very little skill for an alt to get into.

Recon Cynos have a twofold function. On one hand, they are used as scouts in neighbouring systems to monitor traffic and act as an early warning system. On the other, they are fitted with Cynosural Field Generators to call in backup during an emergency.
As a scout, you will be monitoring Local Chat for new, unknown players coming through - you will then check them via zkillboard.com to ascertain if they are of any threat.
Furthermore you will also monitor local Signatures in your system via the probe scanner. This will indicate if potential new Wormholes have spawned, which you will scan down and send the Rolling Battleship team to.

A strong Recon Cyno is a Pilgrim, which can also double as a Hunter-Killer for BlOps Hunting.

Initial Ship Training
The ORE Ship Tree presents many interesting options for mining in different environments. The most optimal fits for our environment can be be found on SeAT.

Exhumers and Mining Barges
Your starting point will naturally be in a Mining Barge, moving quickly into an Exhumer. These represent a much stronger starting line than a Venture or other Mining Frigate variant.
There are many schools of thought on which line is strongest - as you can see in the above diagram each "hull" has it's own strength. Ultimately it will be down to you wither you prefer;
- Stronger Tank - to be able to survive rats or players longer.
- Larger Hold Space - to mine for longer before having to drop off Ore, but at a slower rate.
- Higher Yield - to mine the most minerals in the quickest time, but with limited hold space.
As a rule of thumb, it is recommended to start out on higher tank fits for your mining alts, then specialise as your skills and awareness improve. The following fits are highly recommended for new pilots and alts.

A logical next step to a Mining Barge is the Exhumer in the same line. Exhumers do the same job as a Mining Barge but with quicker extraction rates, higher tank and better hold space.
Furthermore, like any good industrialist you should diversify your portfolio! Including some Ice Mining components in your hold means you can switch between Ore and Ice depending on if there is a moon out or not.

The Orca
The Core Aim of your Mining Team will be to optimise your Extraction, Loading and Unloading of your Moon Ore. To this end, the Core of your team should be the Orca.
The Orca has many functions in the subcapital mining gang - as a store for ships, a booster and occasional logistics ship and a strong miner in of itself. The following Orca fit is a great fit to aim for with your mining characters, as it will be strong in it's own right; supporting your other mining toons with logistics, storage space and with it's own strong mining credentials.

This fit will also be a stepping stone into the Rorqual, the strongest capital mining ship in the game.
Taxation
All moon ore should be centralised and moved to Camal before reprocessing - this should be done with the rest of the mining team. If you have any concerns or want to know when this can be done, just ask in the Discord channel and lots of helpful people will answer.
Of the stacks of Moon Ore you have collected, you must pay tax. This tax is for the moon upkeep and to fund the Coalition wide Ship Replacement Program.
In Camal you will split the stack of your Moon Ore and contract some to the main corporation in Purple Helmeted Warriors - Hostile.
- For R64 Moon Goo - contract 30% of your mined ore to Hostile.
- For All Other Moon Goo - contract 20% of your mined ore to Hostile.
After that, refining in "Camal - Boots On The Moon 2024 (FLEETCOM Sector One)" will give you the best refining rates in the game!
Enjoy your ill begotten cash and train up for even bigger ships!
